Dark Souls II post roundup

“Did you see the flame on the map? I don’t know what explains it…But there is something greatly comforting about that flame. It seems to fulfill something very precious, deep within the soul…Something…essential…”

Given the recent re-release of Dark Souls II, I just wanted to do a little roundup of my Dark Souls 2-related posts from last year for any who might be interested and who may have missed them the first time around. It was a game that really got under my skin in the weeks and months after its initial release.

the goal is soul: diablo III and dark souls II: a point-by-point comparison of the two games I was spending a lot of time playing last summer. One of them comes out a little ahead of the other.

dark soul/out of touch: just your typical post on Susan Sontag, bell hooks, Hall & Oates, and how the simplicity of Dark Souls II’s story is what makes it so meaningful to me.

heroic journey: a quick personal post, again with the Dark Souls II and the bell hooks.

and this year:

the quest goes on: a post on resuming Dark Souls II, and comparing it a bit with Bloodborne.

Yearn: my final personal Dark Souls II post, an attempt to process all the ways that game had gotten into my head and heart and taken on meanings for me, figure out what it left me with, and move on
